Maya Rai

Traditional Weaver, Taplejung Maya Rai has been weaving textiles for over 20 years. She learned the craft from her mother and grandmother, who taught her traditional techniques for spinning allo fiber,processing hemp, and weaving yak wool. Today, shecreates handwovenscarves, shawls, and home textiles inspired by the Himalayan landscape."Weaving connects me to my family, my community, and our traditions."

Pema Tamang

Master Weaver, Taplejung For more than three decades, Pema Tamang has dedicated her life to preserving the weaving traditions of Taplejung. She learned the art of spinning allo fiber and weaving textiles from her mother at a young age. Today, she continues to create handcraftedshawls, scarves, and fabrics using traditional techniques passed down through generations.Pema believes that every textile reflects the beauty of the Himalayas and the stories of the people who live there.Her work combines patience, skill, and a deep respect for nature.
